Edamame Beans-style salted young soybeans
Steamed young soybeans tossed with sea salt. The classic Japanese bar snack.

Ingredients
- 500 g edamame beans (frozen, in pods)
- 2 tbsp coarse sea salt
- 1 tbsp maldon sea salt flakes (to finish)
Method
- Boil. Bring a large pan of water to the boil. Add edamame and 2 tbsp coarse salt. Boil 4-5 minutes.
- Drain. Drain and tip into a serving bowl.
- Season. Sprinkle with maldon sea salt flakes. Toss.
- Serve. Warm, with extra salt on the side. Eat by squeezing the beans out of the pods.
Tips
- Frozen edamame are perfect. Don’t waste time podding before cooking.
- Coarse sea salt > table salt. The crunch is the point.
- Boil 4-5 minutes. Don’t overcook them or they go mushy.
