Ingredients

Sub

  • 1 footlong Italian herb bread
  • 4 slices turkey breast (deli counter)
  • 4 slices ham
  • 6 rashers streaky bacon
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Tomato, sliced

Ranch dressing

  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp buttermilk
  • 1 tsp dried dill
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  1. Ranch. Whisk all dressing ingredients.
  2. Cook bacon. Pan-fry (or air-fry) bacon until crispy. Drain on kitchen paper.
  3. Toast. Brush bread with olive oil. Toast cut-side down for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Layer meats. Pile turkey, ham, bacon onto the bread.
  5. Cheese. Lay American cheese slices on top. Return to the oven (or under the grill) for 2 minutes until melted.
  6. Finish. Add lettuce, tomato. Slather with ranch. Close, slice, serve.

Tips

  • The cheese melt is the whole point. American cheese > cheddar for melting.
  • Three meats + ranch + toasted bread = indulgent. One of the best subs on the menu.
  • Toast the bread properly. Cold bread turns this into a sandwich.
